Right now, Japan is undergoing a Sakamoto Ryoma boom. Ryoma was a Samurai in the late 1800's, who pushed for Japan to open it's ports to foreign trade and influence following Japan's self imposed closure to all but a few foreign powers.
At the Hotel Grand Court Nagoya's Japanese restaurant, they're having a special Sakamoto Ryoma Lunch....dessert is a pudding which features Ryoma's likeness in chocolate on a small, thin pancake surrounded by Raspberry sauce....
The rest of the lunch is mostly Japanese cuisine, consisting of former marine life and specialty dishes from Ryoma's home domain.
The Sakamoto Ryoma Lunch special runs until late May, and there are Sakamoto Ryoma goods for sale in the foyer of the restaurant. Dessert was good!
