UP IN THE AIR

Saturday Oct. 3. Supposed to have been wet and miserable today, and I had a meeting scheduled with a helicopter owner friend. As it turned out, conditions were fantastic, and so we went flying in his original model R-44. It was an older version, without hydraulics or most flight navigation aids. Even then,  flying for the first time in about 2 months was brilliant!
Sunday 4th I was scheduled to pilot for another friend who wanted to take some aerial shots for his business. He sat in the back, I flew. Conditions were even better than yesterday!  In the above shot, we're looking north from Nagoya Port and the aquarium (lower left hand buildings and silver dome) across the city to the mountains of Gifu.
Looking west over central park (green horizontal strip) towards Nagoya Station Twin Towers and even as far as Sekigahara (dip in the mountains, top central right)
South of the city, the road to the left is Fushimi Dori, the lower green patch is Shirakawa Park, the upper green patch is Nagoya Castle...
It was a hair raising flight...
