JOHN LENNON

29 years ago today, John Lennon was assassinated in New York City. I still remember seeing my parents' reaction to the news, and on TV, people all around the world uniting in their grief. The next day at school, even the teachers were upset at the senseless murder. I'd only just discovered the Beatles during 1980、and to see such outpouring of grief around the world made me, as a 12 year old, realise the true power of music, and of the Beatles. I painted this portrait of John Lennon about 10 years ago, using a toothpick dabbed in acrylic paint, and dotted onto the canvas board like an Aboriginal dot art painting. It hangs in the meeting room of the PPF offices in the hopes of inspiring people to imagine....
