WASHIZU CASTLE

A rare day off, and a nice day too. Set off early to have a look at some local castle sites. First was Washizu Castle on the South Eastern outskirts of Nagoya.
Washizu Castle was built in 1559 by Oda Nobunaga during his campaign against Imagawa Yoshimoto. The castle only stood for about a year until the Battle of Okehazama, 450 years ago.
All that remains is the historical marker at the top of the hill, the remains of earthen-work fortifications and dry moats.
