Out on the street was another stone marker with some information on the Honnoji incident.
And this single, lonely official historical marker.
Why does Japan allow such a historically significant site as this, not a footnote, but an impressive page in Japan's long history, to be built over? Surely such an important site should at least be preserved as a park! This is where one of the three great unifiers of Japan, Oda Nobunaga,... a man admired by many today, was assassinated! His ashes grace the spot,...or did until this building was erected...
