On location at Fuji Electric's factory, the world's No. 1 vending machine maker for CBC TV's Dai-Namo show!
After looking at the factory production line which churns out about 600 vending machines a day for anything from drink cans and bottles to ice-cream and hot noodles, we checked out the testing area. Here the machines are subject to various elemental conditions, ranging from 50 degree heat to minus 20 freezing conditions....
I went into the freezer first and lasted 5 seconds at minus 20 C,...then tried the typhoon machine,...strong winds and 600 mm an hour rain simulation (my native South Australia has an average annual rainfall of just 500 mm per year) Much to the amusement of the film crew, I was drenched in no time!
....But dried out pretty quickly in the 50 degree sun simulator room, designed to test the vending machines' ability to last in hot direct sunlight. The typhoon conditioner would have been more fun had it not been winter! Mind you, I might not have enjoyed the 50 degree heat room in summer either... See the programme Dai-Namo Wed nights on CBC TV.
