Saturday August 1. Went to a friends home in the ancient city of Okazaki. Her family traces it's lineage back to the Heian Period (about 850 years back) when they were warrior class. From the Sengoku Jidai, or Civil War Period, (1450-1615) her family were entrusted with the secrets of gunpowder making and were one of only 3 families permitted to do so. Her family home is just a short walk from Okazaki Castle. While visiting, I was given one of her family's traditional company aprons, featuring the company name and logo.

FAMILY TIES
