August 13. The Nagoya - Los Angeles Sister City relationship 50th anniversary was celebrated at one of L.A.'s prestigious hotels. Over 150 guests and dignitaries were in attendance, with one of the nights highlights being the Samurai teams performance. After entering as 2 groups in formation from either end of the venue, we made our way to the front and promoted Nagoya City....
I explained about the team and it's aims, as well as the positive aspects of Nagoya....
The crowd seemed to be excited at seeing the team in full battle dress, complete with battle flags and weapons....
After explaining how to perform the
kachidoki ceremony, the Samurai call to war, we invited the mayor of Nagoya (far left) and other dignitaries to the front to take part. Those without swords I invited to use butter knives or remaining cutlery.
