FIRE WATER

The explosions were getting bigger and better, each one more louder and more colorful than the last... Excitement was building....
And then it started raining,...!   I mean REALLY raining, it was coming down so hard, you could barely see your own hand in front of your face! Our seats were set up on the slope towards the river's edge, and the rain started washing down the seating terraces in a great torrent...
The rain was coming down so hard, and people went into a panic trying to pack up their gear and get out of there. I reckon it would have been dryer in the river itself!
We walked the 500 meters or so back to Miki's parents' place looking like bedraggled drowned rats. The rain coats we were wearing meant for nothing! Because the rain came down so hard and fast, and because of the terraced seating turning into a waterfall, we ended up soaked thru!
And so after returning to my friends home, getting dried off and getting changed into dry clothes, we opted to watch the remaining fireworks from the comfort of her parents' living room.
